Biography
Lavonne is an award winning Copley artist. Her work is in corporate and
private collections around the world.
She has always had an interest in color, light and nature. As a
child she surrounded herself with color, a love of animals and
nature. It is these interests that drew Lavonne to painting the New
England landscape. The history and impact of this area to
American art is legendary. It is the New England artists that helped change art and the
face of our country for all time. It is their leadership and the beauty of
the New England Woodland that has inspired Lavonne's paintings.
Lavonne graduated with a degree in fine art from Emmanuel College in Boston and received
a masters degree with an art focus from Clark University. She has taught all levels and ages of artist from
elementary age children to
adults. Beginners learn from her clear teaching style and experienced
painters enjoy the freedom of her expression and a strong focus on composition.
Enthusiasm is a key work to describe Lavonne and her teaching style. The Boston
Globe has described her as "pouring passion into painting."
Lavonne
expresses her her feelings about art by saying " Watercolors are my
passion. I love the fluidity and transparency that can only be
experienced in this media. When an artist learns to give themselves enough
freedom to allow the paint to assist them in developing the art, the results are truly
magical. It is this union of artist and medium that creates the beauty of
watercolor."
As an artist and an
educator, "I know the value of continuing to grow and develop as an individual.
It is because of this belief that I continue to attend classes and
workshops all over the country. I am on a quest to bring the joy of
painting that I so often see in a child's eyes to adults. For a person to
be able to express themselves through art is an experience that lasts a life
time."
Painting has such a
impact on people's lives. It can add a richness, create an awareness
and appreciation of the beauty that surrounds us. It was with the
goal of making watercolor and techniques available to everyone that Lavonne
produced the TV/DVD program TIME FOR PAINTING. This show is designed to make
watercolor easier. Watercolor is a great way to paint at home or on
location. This show was designed to encourage the beginner and add skills
to the accomplished painter.
